Blessed John Storey
He was principal of Boadgate Hall, Oxford ad a doctor of the law. he had a seat in parliament, being MP for Hindon in Wiltshire. He used evry means in his power to defend the ancient Catholic faith. He found his life in danger and so went abroad, returning when Mary was queen. he was arrested at the tart of Elizabeth's reign, but escaped and lived in Louvain with his wife and children.
he spent much time in exercises of devotion and penance with the Carthusians.
His job was that of inspector of ships- a customs man. But his uprightness made him enemies who lured him onto a ship bound for England where he was betrayed to the authorities.
He refused to acknowledge the Queen to be the supreme head of the Church, and refused to deny the Pope.
His prison was the Tower of London and from there he was dragged to Tyburn and executed.
His head was set on London Bridge ad his quarters on the city gates.
He was martyred on June 1, 1571.
