At Brindle is a whitewashed cottage bearing a memorial tablet to Father Arrowsmith, the well-known Lancashire Priest who once had quarters there. It is still thought to have a hiding-place in the roof, but short of piercing the walls the presence of anything here can only be surmised.
Arrowsmith's vestments, which are now at Stonyhurst, were kept in this place for many years. They were not found here, but in another house a short distance away which has since been pulled down.
