This Grade 2 listed building was built circa 1580 as a Yeoman Farmer's house.
It was used as as secret location for the Celebration of the Mass and other Sacraments during Penal times.
An upper room is still lovingly kept as a chapel and Mass is celebrated there regularly.
With a good view of the surrounding countryside, and being able to comfortably hold 25-30 people,
this was ideal for the Celebration of the Sacraments during penal times. It is regularly used today.

Between the years 1535-1681 hundreds of English and Welsh Catholics died for their faith.
Of these, 42 have been Canonised, 158 beatified and 116 made venerable.
Among those from Lancashire was St Edmund Arrowsmith.
